Common Questions About Tree Work
We’ve answered some of the most common questions we’re asked about tree surgery and garden work. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch.
-
Tree surgeons prune trees to keep them healthy, safe and looking good. They also remove trees, stumps and trim hedges.
Pricing & Quotes
-
There are a number of factors we need to consider before providing a cost for the work such as the size, access and complexity of the job. Many of these are hard to determine from photos or descriptions alone.
We’re always happy to look at photos and have a chat over the phone, but a site visit is usually needed to properly assess the trees or hedges, understand what you’re looking to achieve, and plan the work safely.
For full removals, see our tree felling and dismantling service, or for maintenance work like reductions, visit our tree crown services page.
-
Yes, we provide clear, no-obligation quotes for all work. We’ll usually need to see the tree to give an accurate price.
Planning & Process
-
Sometimes this is the case, especially if you live in a conservation area. Indiviudal trees can also be subject to Tree Preservation Orders.
We are experienced in this kind of work and can advise as needed.
-
This depends on the type of job, its urgency and our current workload, but we always aim to get work booked in as soon as possible.
We always try and prioritse emergency work.
Get in touch and we’ll be able to give you a realistic timeframe.
-
This depends on the size of the job and its complexity, but typically most jobs can be done in a day. Larger jobs will take longer.
-
Yes, we can assess your tree and advise on the appropriate work in line with current regulations.
If needed, we can handle the application process on your behalf (with your consent) and deal directly with the local authority.
Access & Practicalities
-
Not necessarily. Many of our customers are in terraced properties where access is through the house.
We take care to protect flooring and surfaces, and we process and move waste carefully to minimise disruption. It takes more time, but we make sure the job is done properly and respectfully.
-
Yes, all green waste is removed as part of the job unless otherwise agreed.
Services
-
Our main focus is tree surgery, whether that’s pruning trees or carefully felling and dismantling them, but we also work with hedges, shrubs and other garden plants.
We regularly carry out hedge trimming, stump grinding and planting work. If you’ve got a plant that needs attention, we can usually help.
Safety & Professionalism
-
Yes, all work is fully insured and conducted to the highest safety standards for your peace of mind.
All our arborists are fully qualified and we have employers’ and public liability insurance.
Weather & Timing
-
In most cases, yes. The weather in the South-East is rarely extreme enough to stop work completely.
That said, safety always comes first, and we’ll make a call on the day if conditions aren’t suitable to continue.
-
It depends on the type of plant. Many trees and shrubs are quite hardy and can be worked on at different times of year, even in the winter.
The best approach is to have a look at your specific situation and advise based on the species and condition of the plant.
